Join us at Auburn Heights for the event of a lifetime!
Welcome!
The Friends of Auburn Heights Preserve would like to host your special
event or welcome you and your organization to a location considered by
many to be a hidden gem of the Delaware Valley.
With a history rooted deeply in the Yorklyn/Hockessin Delaware community,
Auburn Heights Preserve consists of over 200 acres of rolling wooded
hills crowned with an 1890's Victorian Mansion.
Also on the grounds
is a museum housing the worlds largest collection of Stanley Steamer
Automobiles showcasing the genius of the Stanley brothers, and simplicity
of the steam automobile. While here at Auburn Heights you will surely want to
take a ride on Delaware's First Bus, a 1915 steam powered Stanley Mountain Wagon.
Circling the main house and museum is also a local landmark. The
small (but mighty) Auburn Valley Railroad! This 1/8 size,
1 1/2 inch railroad boasts 2 live steam 4-8-4 Northern Locomotives which
delight visitors of all
ages with a scale train journey. The trips highlights include
almost one mile of track, a 100 foot long tunnel and a 55 foot trestle
bridge where both our locomotives will pass each other in opposing directions!
Whatever brings you to Auburn Heights we're certain you and your guests
will come away with an experience they will be eager to repeat having
spent a day or evening in a location of unsurpassed beauty where old
fashioned power steam comes alive!
