Spring at Auburn Heights Preserve

Welcome to the
Friends of Auburn Heights Preserve

Take a step back in time to a simpler age!  Come and experience the turn of the twentieth century through the magic of steam locomotion here at the beautiful Auburn Heights Preserve!

Enjoy a stroll, or sit under the spreading limbs of the mighty oaks and poplars which surround our estate grounds.   Hop aboard the "First Bus" in Delaware -- A Stanley Mountain Wagon -- for a spin around the property in our fully restored 1915 Model 820 Mountain Wagon.

Or if you'd rather ride the train than the bus....

Step over to the station and board our 1/8 size live steam railway for a round trip on The Auburn Valley Railroad!   The Auburn Valley boasts two mighty 4-8-4 'Northern' coal fired, live steam locomotives to speed you on your journey.

And when you get back to the station you won't want to miss seeing the largest collection of Stanley Steamers you're ever likely to see! We have over a dozen Steamers -- All fully restored and in roadworthy condition.  Don't miss them!

Pssssst! Don't tell anybody else but....there's free popcorn courtesy of our steam powered popper!

But be careful while you're here though --

-- or you might get caught up in the thrill of steam power
(just like we did!) and want to become members of...

The Friends of Auburn Heights Preserve.

We would like to welcome Ms. Catherine Coin to Auburn Heights and wish her luck with her new appointment.  Catherine brings great energy and enthusiasm to her new position, along with a wealth of experience in fundraising, marketing and management in the non-profit sector.  Most recently, she served as Director of Development and Marketing for Yorklyn’s Center for the Creative Arts.

We are all grateful that Catherine has decided to join us and look forward to beginning a new chapter in the long history of Auburn Heights.
